File, directory & folder monitoring

File, folder & directory monitoring can be extremely useful for a whole host of reasons. You may simply wish to check the number or size of files in a particular folder, individual or total file sizes, or be kept informed if key files are removed or edited. You may wish to ensure other processes such as backups are running & complete successfully, or that uploaded files are processed in a timely manner. Or maybe you wish to monitor who accesses important or more sensitive files on your system ?

Sentry-go file monitoring is an extremely flexible option that allows you to do all this, and more, totally automatically.

The Wizard helps you select the check you wish to configure. Directory & file specific checks can be created; file checks can refer to all files, or specific masks as required

In this check, Sentry-go is monitoring the number of files in the C:\TEMP folder. If the number exceeeds 500, an alert will be triggered. You can also monitor the size of individual files or total file sizes etc.

Access to files & folders

  • Monitor user & application accesses to files/directories
  • Capture details on who accessed a file or directory when an alert is triggered

 

  • Capture details on which process/application & client accessed a file or directory when an alert is triggered

For many checks, Sentry-go can be configured to capture user access information in addition to the check itself. Where possible, this allows you to see who accessed the file (& from which application etc.) at the time the alert was triggered. A dedicated check is also available to monitor specifically for file accesses

File access information can also be viewed using the integrated web report. From here you can drill down to access information on the file, see who accessed it & with which permissions etc.
